About the series

Five days. Five voices. One high five.

High Five is a recurring exhibition format at Hotel Continental's Gallery Lab. Each edition compresses a full exhibition cycle — install, opening, public viewing, de-install — into five intense days.

The format favours risk and immediacy. Artists currently living in exile in Berlin are invited to occupy the space briefly but completely, with full curatorial freedom. The result is closer to a studio visit than a museum show: raw, present, finite.

Edition #1 opens the series with a two-position group exhibition assembled by Sofiia Holubeva and Viktoriia Rozentsveih.

Hotel Continental is an Art Space in Exile dedicated to Ukrainian and exiled artists in Berlin. We work toward peace, freedom, democracy and human rights with the means of culture — through exhibitions, residencies, and the simple insistence on showing up.

The Gallery Lab on the ground floor at Elsenstraße 87 is the experimental wing of the house: a room for first attempts, collaborations, and exhibitions that don't yet fit any other format.

Sofiia
Holubeva

b. 1997 · Odesa / Berlin

Sofiia Holubeva works between painting, drawing, installation and mosaic. After a Master's in Monumental Arts from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Kyiv (2021), she has been studying Fine Arts at Universität der Künste Berlin since 2024.

Her practice circles around memory, the impact of war on bodies and landscapes, and the question of what painting can still do in a digitalised present. Her series 40×20×30 (2022) condenses everything she could carry out of Ukraine into a suitcase-sized format.

Viktoriia
Rozentsveih

Kyiv / Berlin

Viktoriia Rozentsveih is a multidisciplinary artist working across graphics, installation, video, textile and photography. She holds a Master's in Graphics from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv (2023) and has been studying Fine Arts at Universität der Künste Berlin since 2025.

Her work circles memory, home, loss and the state of being in-between — where presence and absence coexist. She works with personal photo archives and the landscape of the Kherson Oblast as raw material for self-reflection. Recent shows include Archipelago of History at PinchukArtCentre (2025) and the solo Beyond the Horizon Line in Kassel (2024).
